What is Microdosing? & How it May Help You

What is microdosing? In order to explain how microdosing can help you, first understand what microdosing is so we can all be on the same page. Microdosing is by definition, the act of taking very small amounts of something in order to reap the benefits of its physiological action while reducing undesired side effects. In shorter words, the user takes a small dose of Delta 8 THC, or any other substance, and enjoys the desired benefits without running the risk of more serious side effects occurring. In this case, we’re going to be talking about the benefits of microdosing Delta 8 THC. For starters, we do want to let you know that this is’t a one day process, it may take weeks to fully get the hang of microdosing Delta 8 THC. It’s important that we add what a threshold dose is also; essentially, a threshold dose is how much of the product you take before you FEEL the effects the product has to offer. This is not the same thing as microdosing; as with microdosing, you are taking an amount so tiny, you don’t feel the effects right away. Although you aren’t feeling high, it’s best to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
When starting microdosing, it’s important to note that what is a microdose for one person may not be a microdose for someone else. Generally speaking, your dose should be ten percent of a standard dose; if your standard dose is between 30 to 50 milligrams, your microdose would be 3 to 5 milligrams. If you're a beginner, start your dosage on the lower end & if you feel like you’re more than a beginner, take 5 milligrams. There are various ways to consume Delta 8 THC; vape, tinctures, and gummies. For microdosing, I believe it’s easiest to do this with gummies. My reason being that with gummies, you’re able to calculate exactly how many milligrams you’re consuming with each bite. With vapes, it’s sort of difficult to determine how many milligrams you’re inhaling and everyone has a different type of inhale so, this isn’t the most accurate way. I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but it is harder and requires more accuracy. Tinctures require some basic arithmetic knowledge to properly microdose. In order to calculate how much Delta 8 THC is in a tincture, you have to divide the Delta 8 THC content (in milligrams) by the volume of oil (in milliliters). Then, you take that number and divide it once again by roughly 30 because most droppers hold one milliliter, which is roughly thirty drops. Let’s do some example math, if you have 1200 mg of D8 THC in 30 mL of oil, that equates to 40 mg/mL. Next, we take 40 mg/mL and divide that by thirty because that’s how many drops are typically in a milliliter dropper. Now, after that math, you’re left with 1.3 mg of Delta 8 THC per drop. I know it seems like there’s a lot of math involved, but don’t feel overwhelmed. It can be done, no matter what method you decide to use.
Without straying too far from the original topic of this blog, if you decide to microdose, you can experience an increased focus, energy & creativity boost, ache relief, and even reduced anxiety. When you do microdose, it works best if you take your Delta 8 product twice a day and take a few days off a week to avoid building a tolerance. It all depends on what kind of Delta 8 THC you’re taking and which method you decide on (delta 8 prerolls, delta 8 edibles, delta 8 disposable vapes) . Microdosing Delta 8 THC is an option for each individual to make for themselves and we highly advise to stay away from driving, operating machinery, and any normal activities until you’re sure you can handle it safely.
